Oshkaabewis kwe/woman helper, Tracey Whiteye, is Makwa Dodem, Bear Clan, whose spirit name is ‘Polar Bear Woman Who is Looking Ahead from the Water’. She is Lenaapeew/ Anishinaabe kwe and comes from the Elunaapeewii Lahkeewiit First Nation, known as Delaware Nation of the Thames. Tracey has led many KAIROS Blanket Exercises, is a graduate of the MSW-Wilfred Laurier/Indigenous field of study program, and teaches at the Anishnaabek Education Institute (in the Social Service Worker, Native Community Worker, and the Native Traditional Healing Methods programs). “Tracey was simply amazing and her story incredibly impactful. She is a tremendous educator – teaching over Zoom is a challenge but she connected with everyone in ways that helped us understand the impacts of residential schools through her story, knowledge and message of hope….
