KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE)

25 Years in the Making

The KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) celebrates 25 years of sharing the Canadian story from an Indigenous perspective with thousands of Canadians and newcomers participating in the workshop.

What began with a manager and three staff in 1997 evolved into a staff of 12.

With the creation of the vKBE (virtual KAIROS Blanket Exercise) in response to the COVID 19 pandemic, the popularity of the KBE grew, particularly due to easy access via Zoom or MS Teams.

The KBE experienced tremendous growth in the last five years alone:

  • Approximately 160,000 participants
  • Over 5,300 workshops delivered
  • Countless partnerships developed

High growth presents many challenges, however. The 25th Anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on where we have come from and where we are going. With this in mind, we decided to officially stop the KBE Program.

We will continue to deliver workshops already requested well into March 2023.

NEW VISION, NEW MISSION & NEW IMPACT!

As we step through our 25th Anniversary of the KBE Program we became set on the FUTURE!

This NEW mission initiative will help us develop and deliver a more robust program and be able to better serve and support Indigenous communities and continue to share this Canadian story.

We ask for your patience as we stop all new bookings for KBE programming at this time to re-evaluate and restructure as we walk this path together.
